Addison O'Dea

An explorer who has been to the furthest reaches of human civilization, Addison creates original shows and films that capture our imaginations. With a lifetime forging bonds across the globe, he has access to treasures, stories, tribes, and rituals rarely, if ever, seen. Equally at home at the epicenter of the world’s least known corners and most dangerous places as he is in modern mega-cities, Addison is a writer and director of scripted and unscripted series; and an on-camera host of documentary-style programming.

His latest project is writing and directing the epic 36 episode VR series "Discovery TRVLR" for Discovery and Google. Filmed on all seven continents, the show is a swan dive into some of the worlds most fascinating cultures and characters. Previous to this, he was the host, director, and producer for a limited series for Discovery Digital about history and culture in North Africa. Just in case you want to ride the longest train in the world (through the Sahara) with Addison and visit ancient libraries in Mauritania, you can do that here.

Addison is also the president of Cartography, Inc., a production company that specializes in the adventure, exploration, and travel genres and is structured to function in high-risk territories around the world.

Formerly a contributing editor at National Geographic Traveler, and the Special Projects Producer for the National Geographic Society, Addison’s deep-rooted passion for exploration extends to the bottom of the oceans; to the of middle the deserts; and in the hearts of jungles. No places are unknown, only places, stories, and to know better.
